 Join our Clinical Medical Assisting program at Kern Valley Medical College and embark on a journey towards a fulfilling career in the rapidly expanding healthcare sector. Clinical Medical Assistants are crucial as allied health professionals, undertaking various responsibilities in medical offices, hospitals, and healthcare establishments. 

Our comprehensive 4.5-month program offers focused training highlighting the use of the electronic health records system, ICD-10 medical billing and coding, venipunctures, and EKG procedures. Students also engage in a 160-hour externship to enhance practical skills, gaining valuable on-the-job experience.


Critical Skills Acquired in the Program:

  • Verifying patient information and health insurance details
  • Updating and organizing patients' medical records
  • Inputting data into medical recordkeeping systems like Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Managing paperwork, including surgical permission forms, health check forms, and insurance documents
  • Setting up examination rooms for medical procedures
  • Handling medical instruments and supplies efficiently
  • Monitoring and recording patients' vital signs accurately
  • Administering medications and injections under supervision
  • Collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory tests
  • Assisting patients in preparation for scheduled procedures and addressing their concerns


Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and a Clinical Medical Assisting diploma, propelling them towards rewarding career opportunities. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics recognizes Clinical Medical Assistants as one of the fastest-growing occupations from 2021 to 2031, with a projected employment growth of 10% – surpassing the average job expansion rate. Graduates can pursue roles in various healthcare settings, including physician offices, hospitals, medical clinics, long-term care facilities, college and university health centers, and more.
